Apart from academia, I worked in and designed applied research programs for several non-profit organizations and NGOs in the U.S. and abroad.
From 2005 to 2007, I served as a Community Youth and Education Volunteer with the Peace Corps in Niger. There I worked on youth education projects in schools and community education programs in public health and economic development.
After Peace Corps I worked as a Survivors’ Services and Community Prevention Manager for a shelter and domestic violence prevention organization in North Florida.
While completing a masters’ degree in Sustainable International Development, I did field-consulting work on an income generation program in Niger, a violence prevention program in the Central African Republic, and a maternal health project in Tajikistan. Activities there included conducting group interviews, grant writing, and designing monitoring and evaluation programs.
